As valued Beacon DentalCare members we feel that we should share with you our plans to celebrate our 3^rd birthday year- we are sure you will find this interesting and maybe have something we can add to our programme of events or a good cause you feel would value what we can offer.

The mission:

To celebrate our birthday by helping as many good causes as possible during the year, starting from our birthday week, in December 2010.

How?

By offering our premises (in and outside) for causes to use as a venue for events that they organize.  Plus we will be having various fundraising activities ourselves- keep your eyes peeled for more details about these nearer the time.

What’s happening so far?

We have already started working with several local good causes:

 Onside:

You will have noticed how improved our back garden area is looking lately! Onside who are using our garden area for their work with Individuals with mild/moderate learning difficulties and mild/moderate mental health issues. The Charity provides one-to-one, person-centered support to enable individuals to develop skills, build confidence and pursue their interests.

Keep you eyes out for the amazing changes in our garden as part of this project- rumour has it that we may be featured on TV soon!

The Joanna Brown Trust

We held a profile raising event and a quiz for this local charity which helps children who cannot afford it to compete in the highest levels of sport in memory of local woman Joanna Brown.

Canine Partners:

If you read the local papers you will already be familiar with Stella Hewett and her quest to fund the training of another Canine partner to help someone else to benefit in the way that she has.  Stella is a Beacon DentalCare member, and so as soon as we found out what she was trying to do, we offered to help. 

The quilts made by Children under 16 are currently on display in our lounge area, you are welcome to come and see them.  Beacon helped Canine Partners raise £690.00

7^th Malvern Scouts held a car wash in March and raised £270 towards theuir roof repairs on the scout hut! Well done boys!

Motor Neuron Disease Association 

We have held profile raising special events, and the whole Beacon Team spent a few weeks wearing MND Tshirts to help raise awareness of this devastating disease! More special events in June/July!

Ben Gannon

Beacon members have helped this local boy recieve life changing treatment by donating an amazing £1400 towards his surgery in America.  Thanks to you Ben has the chance to walk again! Thank you!

David  Is Saddle Sore!

David competed for the 3rd year running in the 24hr Mountain Mayhem Cycle race at Eastnor Castle, raising Money for 3 local hospices- St Michaels, St Richards and Acorns Childrens Hospice. Thanks to all who supported him!

Charity Tooth whitening

We raised £1970 doing tooth whitening and donating ALL our profits to Facing The World, a Charity that provides for dental care in the 3rd world.
