Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in dental healthcare. Our dental team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification. 

Professional Registration

The General Dental Council (GDC) is the regulatory body of the dental profession in the United Kingdom. Our dentists and staff adhere to the rules governing the profession by the GDC as set out in their publication "Standards for Dental Professionals". Jon Taylor

Dental Surgeon

BDS DPDS

GDC registration number: 64511

Jon qualified from Guys Dental School in 1989 and worked as a House Surgeon before moving to general practice in the West Country in 1990. In 1999 he became a Principal at Orchard Lane Dental Practice and achieved DPDS qualification at the University of Bristol.

He then went on with is business partner David De Klerk to purchase Brookvale Dental Practice, Honiton and Merrifield Dental Practice, Sidmouth.

He oversees Brookvale Dental Practice one morning a week where he sees referral patients for Dental Implantology and Tooth Whitening.

In his spare time Jon enjoys fine wines, socialising and DIY to the country house he shares with his wife, Karen, their three children and a German shepherd in the Blackdown Hills.

Rachel Patten

Rachel qualified in 1989 from University College Hospital Dental School and has worked in general practice since then. The first 16 years were spent in her home village in West Sussex, working full time until beginning a family. She relocated to Devon at Easter in 2006, moving to Brookvale in January 2007, where she works a 3-4 day week.

Her passion is still to provide a comprehensive general dental service to her patients, from the very young to the more mature, encompassing all their dental needs, with interests in cosmetic dentistry.

Outside of work Rachel enjoys spending time with her partner, three children and dogs, exploring the Devon countryside.

Alison Wright

Dental Nurse

RDN

GDC registration number: 109418

Alison joined Brookvale in 2005. As well as gaining her dental nurse qualification, Alison has carried out specialised training in dental implantology and is hopes to start studying a course in Oral Health Education. With her friendly, bubbly personality, Alison is a very popular member of the team both with patients and staff. As well as her duties in the surgery, Alison also works on the reception team where her warm caring advise helps put patients at ease. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, holidays and spending time with her family.

Ruth Tuck

Receptionist

Ruth's dental career spans over 40 years, starting as a dental nurse and enjoying all aspects of clinical and administration work. Ruth has enjoyed many varied roles within the practices she has worked at including assisting with research projects for a dental journal. A dedicated member of the reception team, Ruth spends her spare time walking, sewing and reading.

Jane Dalton

Jane joined Brookvale in the summer of 2004 and gained her dental nurse qualification in May 2005. During her time at Brookvale, Jane mainly works along side our hygienist in providing fresh breath makeovers.

Jane lives with her partner, one of her two sons and three black cats in Honiton. Jane is a fabulous cook and has made the most delicious birthday cakes for the staff! Her other interest are photography, cycling and healthy living.

Andrea Kew

Receptionist/Dental Nurse

Andrea joined the Orchard Lane Dental Practice in 2004 and has now transferred over to our practice in Honiton Devon where she can be found welcoming patients to the practice with her sunny smile and infectious giggle as well as using her nursing skills working along side Rachel Patten.

In her spare time Andrea likes to spend time with her family

Lynn Evans

Receptionist

Lynn has been working in the field of dentistry since 1976, starting as a dental nurse and then as part of the reception team. With her vast knowledge and experience, Lynn is well qualified to help and advise with any dental needs.

Lynn lives with her husband Kevin and eldest daughter Fiona in South Somerset and enjoys coastal path walking, cycling and exercising her dog Jem.
