CEREC- Computer Designed and Manufactured Fillings

State of the Art High Tech Fillings

Conservative, non-metallic, biocompatible restorations constructed of a natural-looking ceramic material in a single treatment session.

Stuart Clark has invested in the CEREC 3D computer generated ceramic restorations technology and was the first dentist in Bath to utilise this advanced system. This produces 'state of the art' natural looking ceramic fillings, crowns and veneers in one visit without the need for impressions and temporary fillings.

Stuart wants the very best for his patients and so is now able to offer tooth restoration in a natural looking material that is almost identical to tooth enamel in terms of strength and durability. This material and technique is ideal for replacing ugly metal amalgam fillings and restoring broken teeth. The material is tough, biocompatible and backed up by more than ten years of research studies and clinical use.

The Benefits of CEREC

CEREC fulfils the growing demands of our patients:

  • No metal materials
  • Defect-oriented restorations that conserve the natural tooth.
  • Natural-looking, aesthetically pleasing ceramic material
  • Complete treatment in a single session
  • No unpleasant impressions
  • No temporary fillings, crowns, etc.
  • Clinically tested, long-lasting restorations
  • Fascinating treatment process (watch your own restorations being made)

    The CEREC Process

After preparation of the tooth, a three dimensional image of the tooth is taken using a small infra-red camera. This measures the prepared tooth extremely accurately (to within 1/100th of a millimetre).

Stuart then designs the shape of the restoration or crown to exactly fit into the cavity and a small milling machine is then driven by the CEREC computer to produce that shape from a solid block of ceramic material.

This process only takes about 20 minutes and the restoration is then ready to be fitted and cemented in place.

After some polishing, the tooth is ready for immediate use.

Stuart's patients are fascinated and amazed by the whole process and Stuart makes a point of showing his patients how the CEREC system works.

Before and after pictures are taken to show the transformation that has taken place.
