Sedation 

At Orchard Lane Dental Practice we have a specially trained team to provide IV Sedation to help highly anxious patients.  Many patients feel unable to visit the dentist or undergo essential dental treatment because of their fears.  We are pleased to be able to offer this service as part of our care and commitment to our patients.

What is IV Sedation?

IV Sedation is the use of a drug which is given to help you relax.  Only dentists who have undergone recognised rigorous training can offer this technique.  It is a safe and effective treatment which helps you feel relaxed and reduces the anxiety associated with your dental care.  During sedation, you will be awake and able to communicate with the dentist whilst he is carrying out your dental treatment although afterwards you may not recall your procedure due to the affect of the sedative.  Your reflexes and responses will also be affected for a short time after the sedation and for this reason you will need to be accompanied to and from the Practice and you must not operate machinery until back to normal.
