Professional Registration

The General Dental Council (GDC) is the regulatory body of the dental profession in the United Kingdon. Our dentists and staff adhere to the rules governing the profession by the GDC as set out in their publication "Standard for Dental Professionals". Jon Taylor

Dental Surgeon

BDS DPDS

GDC registration number: 64511

Jon qualified from Guys Dental School in 1989 and worked as a House Surgeon before moving to general practice in the West Country in 1990. In 1999 he became a Principal at Orchard Lane Dental Practice and achieved DPDS qualification at the University of Bristol.

Along with David De Klerk his business partner Jon now owns three successful practices in the South West.

In his spare time Jon enjoys fine wines, socialising and DIY to the country house he shares with his wife, Karen, their three children and a German shepherd in the Blackdown Hills.

Michael Dods

Michael qualified at Guys hospital Dental School in 1967 and since has gained a wealth of dental experience through his continued professional development and membership to numerous dental societies. In 1995 he gained his diploma in general dental practice and in 2002 Michael achieved the diploma of membership in general dental surgery at the royal college of surgeons in Edinburgh.

Michael is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and, for nearly 40 yrs, has been providing his more nervous patients with dental care under intravenous sedation.

Michel is married to Wendy, and his interests include motor sport with pre-war and classic cars, travelling abroad, walking, scuba diving, wine, gardening and music. He is second Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne.

Karen Taylor

Dental Hygienist

Karen qualified from Guys University in 1990. Karen provides her patients with a clear understanding of how to keep their mouths healthy. She manages this by creating a warm relaxing but fun atmosphere. Karen, who is married to Jon is not only a qualified Dental Hygienist, has a keen interest in alternative therapy and hold qualifications in aromatherapy, massage, Indian head Massage and Reiki.

Karen is currently undergoing Hypnotherapy Training with a view to providing patients with alternative help to nervous /phobic patients.

When Karen is not working she fills juggling a busy home life with her husband and three children while continuing her studies.

Wendy Dods

Dental Hygienist

GDC registration number: 6036

Wendy has been working in the field of dentistry since 1980 and qualified with distinction as a dental hygienist from the Eastman Dental Hospital in 2002 and winning the Nugent Cup. Married, with two daughters, Wendy lives with her husband, Michael, and her interests include walking her English springer spaniel, reading, wine and music.

Diana Dollery

Diana joined the practice as one of our hygienists in 2007, but has worked in dentistry since 1989.

She qualified in Oral Hygiene from Liverpool University in 1995 and worked in both general practice and alongside a periodontal specialist for 5 years before joining us.

Like all our hygiene team Diana is a very caring member of our team and is always willing to listen to the needs of any anxious patients and discuss their treatment options.

In her spare time Diana likes to camping holidays with her husband and her two young sons.

Paula Brake

Paula rejoined Orchard Lane in 2007. She first came to work for us in 2004 for six months covering on reception. In the past she has worked at Yeovil Hospital in the Maxio Facial Department and also as an Occupational Therapy assistant for the community in Lyme Regis.

Paula is not only a qualified Dental Nurse with 15 years experience but she is also training to become an Oral Hygiene Educator. Paul has a warm approachable personality that she puts to good use by splitting her working week between working not only on our busy reception desk but also alongside Jenny Collins.

In her spare time Paula and her family can be seen enjoying rally car racing or clogging up the highways taking her beloved caravan from one beauty spot to another.

Emma Male

Senior Dental Implant Nurse

Emma joined Orchard lane in 2006,as a dental nurse and now can also be found working on reception and as part of the Orchard Lane implant team, or helping out at our two sister practices in Honiton and Sidmouth. Emma who joined Orchard Lane after working in several local practices has a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and energy. In her spare time Emma can be found playing football for Winsham Ladies or pounding the streets as a member of Chard Running Club.

Tab joined the practice in 2007 as part of our highly trained reception team.

Her calm natural approach makes her a very popular, not only amongst the staff but also with all of the practice patients. Tab like all of the staff at Orchard Lane thrives on learning and has already expressed a desire to start her Dental Nurse training in the near future.

Tab who is married with two sons, tries to find time in her spare time to read and socialise with friends and family.
